Beijing University of Chinese Medicine Third Affiliated Hospital Introduction

　　Beijing University of Chinese Medicine Third Affiliated Hospital is a GradeⅢ-A integrative traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine hospital combining medical, education, research, prevention, health care and rehabilitation. It is a traditional Chinese and western integrative hospital under key construction of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is directly affiliated with the Ministry of Education and is the third clinical medicine college of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine.

　　The hospital is located in the heart of the Beijing Asian sports Village and Olympic core area overlooking the Olympic Park, the national stadium, and neighboring the Yuan Ruins Park in the south. The long history of this hospital can be traced back to October 1964 and the founding of the Beijing headquarters hospital for the People's Liberation Army Infrastructure Engineering Corps. It is also formerly known as Beijing Urban Construction Hospital, Beijing Metallurgical Hospital. In September 2006 it became the Third Affiliated Hospital of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine.

　　There are 520 clinic beds, 30 clinical departments, 8 medical technical departments, with 4 clinics and 3 community health service stations as subsidiary branches. The hospital has 32 senior experts, 70 associate professors, 65 with a doctor degree, and 108 with master degree. Our noted strengths are in the fields of diagnosing and curing encephalopathy, bone disease, cancer, kidney disease, digestive disease, cardiovascular disease, respiratory disease, endocrine system diseases, andrology, dermatology, and gynecology with Chinese and western Integrative Medical methods. We have achieved advanced efficacy levels in the treatment dominant diseases. The hospital receives patients and scholars from over 30 countries and regions for treatments and studies annually.

　　The hospital has three national class Chinese clinical medicine special departments: Integrative Encephalopathy, Integrative Orthopedics, and Digestive Diseases. There are 6 key State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine specialties: encephalopathy, orthopedics, oncology, cardiovascular, digestive disease, and nursing. There are 4 major State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine disciplines: General Medicine of TCM, Orthopedic Sciences of traditional Chinese medicine, Mind Epidemiology of traditional Chinese medicine , and Mastopathy of traditional Chinese medicine . There are 2 key Beijing Municipal Administration of Traditional Chinese medicine specialties: TCM gynecology, and rehabilitation.

　　The hospital has 12 doctoral tutors, 46 master's tutors, and national senior Chinese medicine experts academic inheriting experience instructors from the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The hospital also has Beijing senior Chinese medicine experts academic inheriting experience instructors, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine postdoctoral apprentice mentors, and inherited instructors of various levels and types, like Chaoyang District inherited instructors. The hospital is the Chinese medicine standardized training base for both resident doctors and general practitioners. It is the first institution in China to recruit GP graduate students in Chinese medicine, carry out inherited education and clinical practice for both graduate and undergraduate students, and form teaching teams with Doctoral supervisors and Master’s supervisor as academic leaders.

　　In the past five years, the hospital has been participating in 13 projects including internationally cooperative scientific projects and NSFC projects, Beijing Natural Science Foundation of China, doctoral topic of Ministry of Education, 17 provincial research projects, for example those of Capital Medical Development Research Fund and 169 Beijing Traditional Chinese Medicine University research projects. The hospital was awarded the second prize of national Science and Technology progress Award and a number of provincial research awards .
